Rough/missing engine when cold

My 1963 M127.984 six cylinder misses and runs rough when starting the first time of the day. As the engine is cold, it will continue to run badly while the temp gage is rising until it is at the slash indices between the 100 & 180 mark. Once the temp gets above that level it runs like a fine tuned clock. Any clues as to what my problem is?

Sounds like a 220Sb of mine a long time ago in Colorado wintertime.... The car could not be driven if stone cold. I never diagnosed the problem but just got used to warming it up.

Does something liek that have any sort of cold-start system? Like the EFI models have the cold-start injector and carb cars have chokes?
Thanks
David

....the first thing to do is to remove the air filter at the pump with a 22mm wrench [ check it for blockage] . Once off , start the cold car and put you finger at the hole where the filter was .. there should be a high suction at that port and it will decrese as the temp rises . When it finally warms up, there should be NO suction.
This is the warm up Colds Start Thermo and Slide . It richens the a/f mix at low temps and shuts off at operating temp.
Normal rpms should be [ dependant on temp] around 1200 cold and decreasing as it warms down to normal idle of 800/900.
If all works well with air filter off , check and clean filter , as a blocked filter will choke the air intake on this device ..and cause your condition.
There are adjustment s for all this, but the above is this is where you want to start...

Check the water thermostat on the injection pump. I have the manual at home and I can get some info to you. Also make sure the plunger under the thermostat moves freely.

Run some BG-44 in a tank of gas to clean the injectors. Then change your oil.
