250 cylinder head, block, crank, oil pan
I just got back from eastern Tennessee where I bought a slightly defective engine for my 220D (broken timing chain, most likely from using a master link rather than swaging it).
The previous owner has a head, block, crank, and upper oil pan from a late 60's 250 (W115 chassis, carbs) for sale cheap -- he put them on eBay and no one bid on them. I didn't take them as I have more than enough stuff I cannot use now, but they will be going to the recycle shop soon if no one wants them. The block looks fine, as does the crank (honing marks visible, no bore rust on the block, no scratches on the crank). I did not measure them. The head had a valve guide moving with the valve, and has had a insert put in to restore the guide clearance -- don't know if this is working or not, as the guide was never actually installed. Cam is rusty, but head otherwise looks fine. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll put you in contact with the seller. Peter
