1968 250sl
I just acquired this car; it has been in a garage for 10 years in the desert and needs new tires. It currently has P195/70/R14 tires. Is this the correct size?

Correct size for 113.043 was 185 R14 .. That is a Euro size with an 80 profile aspect ratio..
They are NLA, so you want to go to a 195/75R-14 to get close to original diameter. |

Jerry, let me speak for the group and inform you that we'll need the story behind these two cars.
Storage? Desert? The recovery of old vehicles is always interesting, but in twos? There's got to be a story there. |

Probably bought it near Palm Springs. When I worked for the dealer there in the mid '70s, the town was full of older SLs.

A family friend died at 89 with no relatives and she never threw anything out, including 4 MB's and a Jag. 1997 C280 with 1500 mi., 1986 420SEL with 25,000, 1972 280 SEL 4.5 with 75,000 and 1968 250SL with 45,000. The Jag had body damage and was not worth it. The cars had not been run anywhere from 4 to 10 years, but she maintained them well when they were driven and they were garaged their entire lives; she appreciated nice cars. All went to her friends like most good deals. And all of them are running well after some time and not too much money. Thanks for the help.
