Dashboard Repair / Replacement

Does anyone know if there is a company that either sells new padding or repairs the old of a 67 230 dashboard, mine has about 4 cracks... Also, anyone know how much one of these would cost to replace/repair?

I believe prior years had the same dashboard, it's the one with the weird speedo that rises horizontally. See here for a pic. http://www.vikingautobrokers.com/photos/inventory/1968_mercedes_benz_230_sedan/MVC-889F.JPG

Thanks for any info!

If you cant find a place to get it done or a proper replacement, you may be able to take it out, fill the holes and then give it texture and dye the whole thing so you cant see a difference. This is the cheap and possibly last resort to doing this.

I have seen a lot of "dash caps" on Ebay, although I don't know if they have one for your particular model. I bought one for my '68, but have not yet installed it. I fit it in the car though just to see how it looked, and man, it fit perfect and looked awesome.... The people we bought it off of on eBay carried dash caps for several other models, so you might check that out....

Did it fit over the existing dash, or does it replace it? I thought it goes over the top, which I thought would look strange since it would look "taller." let me know what you think.
Thanks
David

It's a cap that fits over the existing dash... it's only like an 1/8 of an inch thick or so, hardly noticeable. I doubt anyone who wasn't the wiser would ever know the difference. It certainly beats trying to replace the dash, or covering it with one of those stupid carpet dash covers (carpet dash covers... argh! ) I thought it looked darned good... but that's my opinion...

Here's an example of one, it's a 68 69 70 71 72 73 74 75 76 Mercedes 114 115 Dash Cap

A few years ago I got some information on a place called Just Dashes in California, but never checked into them any further. They restore any dash to new condition by completely rebuilding it from a core, or exchange them on some cars. They look professional from the info I got. Their website is www.justdashes.com. Would be interested to know what you find out if you contact them.

A bit pricey to have it redone. But it will look stock after..
