w110 clutch
Hi guys,
I don`t get it,really...Rebuilt master cylinder (piston OK,new seals,washer,spring,cylinder not scored).New hose,new slave cylinder from MB dealer,bled the system several times and the damn pedal refuses to go fully back!!! It misses only a small amount of force(I pushed back the throwout fork by hand).I also changed the spring that connects the slave cylinder and the fork-no result... I friend suggested that the throwout spings of the clutch pressure plate may had gotten weak or damaged..could it be so?? I hope I could find the pilot and the release bearings in the aftermarket. Anyway, I`m sure the clutch has never been changed.... Thanks a lot, Vengerov, w110 200 D |

Another problem is that MB used several different pressure plates, thrust bearings, etc on the 110. Parts may not be interchangable between clutch kits and the forks may differ too. I'd be really wary about ordering the correct parts. You might even have to pull the old clutch before you order replacement parts. Some had an arrangement of coil springs, others had regular plate springs of different manufacture - serial number specific to your car. Clutches on the 110 are mixed and varied odd-ball items that might be tough to find.

I had to push nearly two quarts through my system before I got all the air out. It is an M110/R107, but same basic system. After two less-thorough bleeding attempts, it was still behaving as you describe.
It sounds like you still have some air in the clutch system. Try putting a power bleeder on the resevoir, and have someone pump the pedal while you watch from below. Use clear tubing and watch closely for really tiny bubbles. |
