fintail idler arm
Hi,
yesterday, as I was driving with my problematic clutch, the front end started acting strangely-seemed like the front right wheel was going to come off...It turned out to be the idler arm- the nut was loose and there was excessive play when turning the wheel... I torqued the nut, drove slowly back home and searched the forum. I found some helpful info http://207.210.95.34/~boostd/FrontSuspension/idlerarm/ Has anyone of you guys done it on a flosse? My setup is different, but my biggest concern is the price-the mb dealer wants 130$ for the rep .kit MB Nr. 111 460 00 50 (40$ for w123 resp.) Thanks a lot Vengerov,W110 200D |

Hello,
W110 may have brass bushings in the idler arm which need greasing regularly, that would explain the $130 repair kit. I have not done an idler on a pre-67 W110/111/112/113, so cannot help you with any info. Sorry.

And if it's brass bushings expect press fitted parts too, unless you can get away with using a rubber hammer and wooden dowel as a drift.
I recently surfed ebay for suspension sway bar rubber bushings and noticed the 123 idler arm kit at $12 instead of $40 MRP. For the 123 it's basically just a nut and bolt with cups and rubbers. I didnt see any finbody idler arm kits and have not yet replaced one on any MB's I've owned. |
