fuel lines.
Hey all,
Im a 17 year old who just bought a 1973 280sel 4.5. I LOVE this car, but dont want it to turn into the parts car i aquired (1972 w/engine fire from faulty fuel lines). My question is what are the fuel lines and how much length is required. Im about to order the parts off line to clean up the beast. Thanks! Since I am new to the boards Ill introduce my benz. 1973 Riviera blue with matching hubcaps blue MB Tex vinyl interior, brand new upholstery and carpet. 80,000 ORIGINAL miles only thing to break was the fuel pump, and that was just a little leak. Things to do- New shocks exhaust work engine bay cleanup (new lines for P/S, fuel, degrease) paint rebuild motor and trans from parts car and sell rest off from carcass which reminds me, the parts car is a 1972 280SE 4.5 with white paint and blue interior. If you need glass, chairs, dash, panels, assorted mechanical components for core rebuilds email me at karodak@yahoo.com. Also willing to part out grill and chrome bumpers. This is a full car, possible engine and trans parting however. I bought this car because my father, an immigrant and naturalized Syrian first drove his fathers brand new 280se 3.5 convertable, and I had to have something that classy (on a budget). Car is fast, comfortable, got a thumbs up from a guy in a Ferrari 360 modena, and wont depreciate. Anyways thanks for all the help guys and if you can help me with the fuel line dillema id appreciate it. Keenan Arodak karodak@yahoo.com |

The dealer would sell fuel grade hose by the meter at some ridiculous price but I'm sure you could get it at any good auto parts store for much less. You should be able to estimate the length when you get the old ones off - and the price should be low enough that you can buy some extra. It's a good preventive measure on an older car like that.

You can even got op NAPA, just measure the diameter, or get something very close (in SAE of course). NOTE: MAKE SURE IT IS FUEL INJECTION COMPATIBLE, NOT JUST REGULAR FUEL LINE. Fuel injection hose is capable of higher pressures than regular fuel hose. We did this same thing to my friend's '72 280SEL 4.5 He may need to buy some body parts off you BTW. I'll give him a heads up about your parts car.
Thanks David

Im in Tampa, thats not too far. If he needs any photos Id be happy to send. Car is not driveable, frame is rusted to hell, but panels held up well (and floor pans... surprisingly).
