250 SL Fuel Line
I am working on a 250 SL for a friend. The car has been sitting for a couple of years now. I've brought it back to life by cleaning out the crud in the fuel tank and pump and I ran the pump on the work bench after cleaning it out. It had been sticking but now it is fine. Typical with these things, like chasing a plumbing leak in your house, the next thing at fault is the pressure side fuel line going to the filter. The line is leaking badly at the bend where it goes over the rear axle. Can anyone point me to a source for that line and advise me about the work involved in replacement? I'm just a hobbyist so I'll be doing this on my back. I really can't drive it to any shop because of the leaking. Any ideas, comments or referrals? Thank you.

Recognize that I am not a 113-head. But -
I have a Haynes manual that covers the 250SL sort of. It looks like the hose is one of the type with metal tubing and female fittings on the ends, and fabric in between. You might be able to make an emergency hose by cutting the tubing at both ends and splicing in a section of high pressure fuel hose using stout clamps. If you go to FastLane or ***************, you will see a "fitted hose" listed for this car. That might be the one you need. You can also almost certainly get it from a Mercedes dealer - just have the VIN with you. The ultimate source and authority is Gernold Nislus at SL Tech. Thank you Chuck and Arthur. I think I better get the right parts instead of trying to make up something. It's kind of an ugly job because as soon as that's fixed something else will succumb as you have mentioned, Chuck.

Just replaced the flexible ones on my 220. I found it a very easy change using just regular A/F spaners. But it might be worth cutting through the old pipe so you can use either a socket or ring. I purchased original parts from my local main dealer, the two pipes came to just over £60 UK pounds.
