280SE 3.5 Automatic sighted in Berkeley

I'm fairly positive it was a 280SE and not a 300SE, it was passing by though so I'm not totally sure. It was most definitely a four door. It seemed pretty odd to me, but maybe not so much.

He's referring to the coupe or convertible, which would be a 3.5.

There is one for sale in Los Angeles. It's 1972 280se 3.5. It's been sitting on the corner gas station for a few month allready and when I saw this thread I thought I will check it. It's a 4-door, mettalic golden, $7999. Seems to be in decent shape. Is it that rare?

Funny how you guys over there want the 3.5s where I've spoken to some enthusiast down here and they want the 4.5s !

I've never come across a 4.5 over here...

Warren,

The one I saw was a four door. It was a well worn looking, silver 108.

This is what I was looking for: http://www.geocities.com/mbz109/w108data.html

280SE 3.5 11,309 units produced

280SEL 3.5's, a scant 951, the smallest number of any 108/109 produced at least in sedan form I think. Meaning there's about 10 left.

I can't remember if the one I saw was a Langversion or not.
