Cool! 'Candlepower' is right in my neighborhood.
Just a quick (sometimes!) jaunt around the Beltway.
Thanks.

I'm buying two sets of used reflectors. They are 2 years old and "as good as new". $295 for all 6 parts. According to MB prices, the main reflectors are $80 each and the fog light reflectors are $100 each. Someone on the MBCA forum said they got their main reflectors redone for $75 each. I feel I'm doing the right thing.

I still might send mine out to get redone next year, just to see the quality of the work. That way I will have spares if needed, or could sell to a needy Pagoda owner.

I installed a nice set of Euro lights in my '60 Fintail and I worry more about the glass 'bubble' lens than the reflector.

I also have 1 spare NOS lens and an extra pair of crummy Euros with useable lenses. I actually paid more for the crummy pair than my nice ones! The previous owner fastened a pair of 7" sealed beam headlight buckets onto the original Bosch reflectors with sheetmetal screws. I removed the damaged reflectors and made brackets for the headlight buckets so they could be attached to the original headlight housing and adjusters, then I installed a pair of 7" semi-sealed H4 halogen headlamps. These will be my backup set, plus I still have the original stacked 5" sealed-beam headlight assemblies.

Happy Motoring, Mark

Yes, I worry about them as well, just as I do my all red tail lights. I'll get nice spares some day.

Hello,
Yes, all of us with MBs that have the huge glass lens headlites worry about the lens
I have always hoarded front and rear lamp lenses for my cars, but the W114/115 are not collector cars and the W107 is not a *keeper* for me, but in Malaysia I cannot obtain the funny foglamp bulb that the MBs used before going over to H3.
Added aggravation here is that the slowwitted parts shops have LHD lenses in stock, their line is *can use* They cannot grasp the concept of assymetric beam control and have no idea why there are so many part #s for the lenses etc, what is *left hand traffic* or *right hand traffic*, heck, even the Bosch reflectors I bought for my W115 were LHD, I had to clip out the slot that locates the P45 bulb base to turn the bulb to the correct angle to have the dip beam *kick up* on the LEFT side of the street.
BTW, they have W113 headlamps complete and want US$1200/ per unit, a bargain according to them. I am not sure if the thing is genuine or a very good copy from Taiwan or China, after hearing the price I did not bother to look.
The hood stars for the W114/115/116/123/124/201 are all cheap copies here, genuine German stars have to be obtained from junkyards, so a new part in this case is actually poorer quality than a junkyard part
Glad you found the parts you required and if at all possible, try to hang on to your old parts, even if just as a pattern.
Have a good day

re-silvering

I used to see an ad for re-silvering of reflectors in Hemmings. Haven't been looking for awhile, so I don't know if it still there. I believe they were located in Portland, OR.

Merry Christmas

I got my slightly used headlight reflectors today! They are very nice, almost new. They have just a few very small scratches here and there. They have the rubber cylinders (a couple are missing) used to pivot on when adjusting the aim. They have light bulbs in the turn signal and fog light assemblies. I can't wait to get them installed. When I have a few "extra" dollars I will send out my old ones to get re-finished and I'll report on the quality of that work.

Source of Lights

Rodd,

Did you say where you got your replacement lights from?

I'm looking for a single lens (left-side) for W116 Euro lights. Anyone have a lead for me? Bosch part number?

Thanks,

Alex

Alex,

I got them from VanDijk in The Netherlands. Yup, I went overseas! They are an SL parts specialist. I know several SL parts places there:

You should start here.

Perhaps order this:

I offer you the above. They have at least given me a quote. I've no experience in this direction but will likely go with them for the replating. good luck. Willie(poor Soul)
