wood trim in 108

I need to pull and refinish the trim piece at the top of the dash on my 108. Is there an easy way to pull that piece out without taking apart the whole dash. The rest of the dash wood is O.K. I just need to refinish the door pieces and the defroster piece.
Thanks
X.

Remove the speaker cover in the center of the dash and the blank inside (I think). There are two screws there holding the trim down. Remove them, then pull back on the trim, it should come loose (unless you push forward, I can never remember things like that).

Remove the side windshield trim, it prys off.

To get it out of the car, however, you must CAREFULLY flex it to clear the side of the windshield. If it's in fairly good shape (other than the cracked and blistered finish), this is no problem. If it has become delaminated, flex the other end!.

It can be glued back up with hide glue if separated anywhere. You will need to use some laquer thinner to get the finish off, it's catalyzed nitrocellulose laquer. I suggest using a good quality spar varnish to refinish.

DO NOT SAND IT!!!!! The veneer is about 1/64" thick on a paper backing, sandpaper will completely remove it.

I posted quite a bit about this, but no longer have the link, you might want to do a search.
