diesel into a fintail - is it possible ?
So, I know there were fintail diesels (190 and 200's). Are the motor mounts the same as the later model 220D and the 240D ?
thanks

What ever happened to your 116 SDl project where you were going to put a 617 into LWB 116. I'd buy one of those from you if it weren't a rust bucket.
Thanks David

actually found a 116 SWB (300SD ) body with no rust from a list member so its a real restoration rather than an engine transplant into a different body style.
Just happened to have found a fintail with no rust locally and was wondering about the feasibility

grim where are you located? As most people around here know I'm looking for a rust-free fintail. Do you know how much they were asking?
Thanks David

heh, I'll keep you posted in a day or so. I may get it after all, put my 'other' surplus 617 drivetrain into it

I have heard of fintail diesels with the larger 220D engine transplanted in. I am fairly certain there is very little changing, if any, that needs to be done. I know the 200D engine is based on the 190Dc engine, and if I'm not mistaken, the 220D was based on the 200D and the 240D was based on the 220D. I bet a 240D would also fit, especially out of a 114/115 chassis.
