Talking New old W116 - New to Forum

I finally took the plunge. I have wanted a W116 since they came out when I was 14 in 1973. I decided to find a low mileage 450 SEL and after many months of searching, I found one. I am the proud owner of a 1 owner (until me) 1978 450 SEL. This fantastic machine has 85,000 miles, is white with a light tan (don't know official color name) leather interior with black dash and console, has auto temp control, cruise, power windows, sunroof, newer cd player, elec. antenna, aluminum wheels, and both outside mirrors. EVERYTHING works perfectly on the car and it looks, runs and drives like new. The p.o. (honestly, a little old lady) had all books and records. She only wanted $2400 and I feel fortunate to have gotten it for that price. It is true heaven to drive, people have already stopped me to comment about, and I am going to use it as my daily driver.

I live in Atlanta, GA and wouldn't mind hooking up with others near me to discuss and admire these cars.

Y'all will be seeing a lot of me as I am totally into this car. I've spent the last 24 hours reading posts in the forums here and will be on here daily.

I'm in love with a car like I have never been before!
Jeff

Hey Welcome Jeff,
I dont know why but absolutly everyone who buys a 450sel simply falls in love with it immediatly. The condition in which you got it and the price is fabulous and your research paid off after all.

That car has a few more decades worth of daily driving in it so enjoy.

Peter

Congratulations on your new car! My 450 SE was purchased new by my grandfather and I'll never get rid of it. Just ticked over 160,000km since 1977

For some fun reading check out the web site I set up, especially the old magazine articles in the library section.

The website is fantastic, I found it while I was searching for my car. It really helped me make up my mind to finally take the plunge. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words. I set up the site for that exact reason and to share what I know - you will be hard pressed to find a better car while still being practical for daily use.

It really does sound like you found a great car. I would love to see some photos and keep us posted as to how it goes!
