MB-Tex, leather, cloth, or velour, depending on destination and trim package, they were all available somewhere.

US got MB-Tex or leather, the rest of the world got all four. The original for your car is on the tag beside the hood latch if you can decipher it, or from MB with the chassis number.

I am thinking that if the 3 digit code starts with a 1, then it is MB Tex, and if it starts with a 2, then it is Leather.

I think 261 is the code for Black Leather. 171, I think is for Black MB Tex

The other numbers listed will tell you the color the paint is supposed to be, and what sort of options you have. ie: Power locks, I think is 466, and power steering is 422.

My 108 has code 139 is for Bamboo tex.

If you want to figure out the original options for your vehicle, Contact MB Classic here:

http://www.mbusa.com/brand/container.jsp?/heritage/expert.jsp&menu=6

Give them your chassis number and they'll email you with the original options and their codes. They had a image of my car's original option card on file, which they also emailed to me. Pretty slick.
