6.9 road trip part II
Hey all,
Just returned from a trip to Atlanta, Georgia in the 6.9 and I have to report that she ran flawlessly. I was able to keep an average 90mph on-the-road speed and yes, made some quite good time! Of course I did have to make roughly three fuel stops between Cincinnati and Atlanta and vice versa but what the heck, these cars NEED to stretch their long road legs! I stopped by Cherokee Sports and Imports in Woodstock, GA and met Ken Yancey who had a silver 300TD wagon that caught my eye as I passed the first time. We swapped stories for a few minutes and I was on my way. This was the second long trip for the 6.9 in two weeks. Last week we were in Chicago and again, nothing but stellar performance. I really forgot how effortless that car is to drive. I was able to dismiss many a BMW with a light touch of the throttle on the interstates! Al, Sorry I didn't contact you while I was down there but I was in meetings both days and had to get home to attend to some shop business. I will probably be back down that way in the next month or so, so we will certainly meet up then! I look forward to seeing your 6.9!

Hi, Aaron. It was good to see you and that sharp 6.9 when you stopped by Cherokee Sports & Imports. It was good to put a face to a name. Always a pleasure to visit and share stories with a fellow Benz enthusiast. Glad to hear you had a good trip back.
Tony

Aaron,
No problem, we will catch up on your next visit, hopefully I would have some of the work done by then.

Aaron, what kind of fuel consumption did you get throughout your trip?

Aaron,
We enjoyed talking with you Saturday, it's always a pleasure to talk with another Mercedes enthusiast, and we welcome you and others to stop by anytime. It was really nice to check out your rare and beautiful 6.9. I'm glad to see your trip back went smoothly, hopefully, you didn't upset too many of those guys in their Bimmers, as their ego's bruise easily. Ken

Tony,
Sorry bud, I forgot to give you a mention in my last post! By the way, your W116 300SD was quite the eye catcher! If a friend of mine back here in Cincinnati were to see that car, he'd flip! Average fuel economy was about 11mpg give or take But I'd rather not think about it.
