78 280ce Help!
Hey guys...............can anyone help me figure out a problem with this vehicle??? I do not drive it daily. It will start everyday, if I think about starting it...............otherwise if it sits for a few.............I have to have a boost to turn it over. The battery is new. I thought the trunk light was stuck and draining the battery, so I removed the bulb, that was not it.... Is there anything else anyone can think of that could be causing this......HELP!!
Thanks Scott 78 280SE/CE |

When it is running,
connect a voltmeter across the battery posts. Should read 13 volts or higher after the 'boost'. But, this doesn't check alternator amperage capacity, only volts.
First check for disconnected wires. If you can't get 13+ volts at the battery posts, either bench test or replace alternator.
