getting rid of points on W115

I would like to get rid of the contact points in my 200/W115. However I would like to use stock electronic ignition parts from another Benz..would the components from a early 200/W123 fit ? Especially the distributor..I hope that since the early W123 cars had the M115 engines the dist should fit right in?

I know I need the coil as well and also the power stage but I also need more info about how to hook these up.

Thanks
Anil

Why spend that much money when a Crane or Pertronics does a better job and is low cost perfect solution?????????

they're quite rare (petronix/crane etc) in my part of the woods.. Malaysia.

I could probably get one off the net but if one of the components failed I would have trouble getting spares... whereas there are a lot of MBs around and parts are easy to come by.

Get two, then you know the original won't fail.. Murffey's Law...
you never run out of gas when you have a spare can in the trunk...

Hello,
Robert Bosch(South East Asia)Ltd. will sell you a conversion kit that will upgrade the original Bosch dizzy with a Hall effect trigger, special coil and transistor switch unit.
I did these conversions on an Opel ,Volvo and Alfa. If your car has the original Bosch unit, it can be converted but it is not cheap, was Malaysian$500/- around 1992.
Strange as it may seem, these sets were never offered for sale in USA.
If you can give me the Bosch # on your car's dizzy, I can cross reference the conversion kit # for you.
My car has a Nissan magnetic trigger type distributor that has been machined down and an the offset drive dog fitted to it and it works well, but of course the mechanical and vacuum advance are not exactly correct but the engine cannot seem to tell the difference and it pulls 95-105mph easily and has not blown up YET
