I have a 1973 280 ce sitting in my back yard. Is the fuel injection common on this year car? I picked up the car from a guy out in the boonies(traded for some speakers). It is really rusty and the interior is pretty bad. The engine for some reason seems to run really good even though it was sitting stuck in the mud for who knows how long, at least half the spark plug wires are cut and or broken. I'm not sure what to do with it. Maybe learn how to do body work? Just a hobby car I guess. Any information on the production numbers for this car? thanks for any info. andy

This is a euro model car. It's a 114 chassis 4-door, right? They are very common parts cars in Australia. Rare in the US.

I had one about 10 years ago (also a parts car) that I salvaged parts off of.

The EFI system is similar to the one used in the 450se & other 3.5 & 4.5 cars from 1971-1975. Except of course, for the number of cylinders. Which means that none of its parts are interchangeable with the v8s.

73 280

If it's a 73 it should be carbureted. And the coupe should be worth restoring IF it's not too bad. If the interior is crap, there is a big problem and may make it a junker. OK engine?, I may have a need if my 75 goes. Where are you? Steve

My car is a fuel injected model. It has an automatic transmission. It would be a cool car to restore, but it's too far gone I think. The passenger seat is broken, all the seats are torn, missing driver door panel and the floors are rusted through. The rest of the interior is alright. The exterior has really bad rust under the door area, around the rear wheel wells and some on the trunk lid. One fender is bad and needs to be replaced. I think it might be really good for parts. All of the windows are good, bumpers are good, It runs(needs alternator, spark plug wires replaced). Remember I said the engine "seems to run good" considering the alternator and wires are shot and/or broken. I live in Tacoma, Wa.
