Got hold of W112 300SE instead of Adenaur 300

Hello,
Just in case anyone was thinking that I have given up on old cars, I just dragged a 300SE W112 out of it's resting place of the last 30 odd years
It can start and move, but will need air suspension rebuild OR just conversion to steel springs.
Good points: 4 speed manual, good leather interior, 14" wheels/tyres, sound body(NO RUST)plus all the mechanical FI seems to be working.
Bad points: dead suspension, dead brakes and dead dashboard gauges.
The owner laid up the car when he became ill about 1976 and did some things that seem to have preserved the car better than average.
I must be crazy
Have a good weekend.

Wow, post some pics please. The 4 speed is rare. They came with automatics for the most part.

Long or regular chassis?

150 to 200$ per air bag. special o-rings at 2$ each times 36 or so. The "correct" o-rings have a square cross-section. The ones I got from the dealer last year didn't. I guess even benz gave up on doing that.

Keep the air. -CTH

You bet, it is right hand drive, manual tranny BUT regular chassis.

As much as I'd like that, do not forget I am in Malaysia, only 8602 miles from Raleigh, NC and even W108s in good working order AND original condition are rare around here.
The owner died and the family just wanted to get rid of it, a MB shop owner bought it without moving it, but he had no idea what the heck this thing is,could not move it even with a 4x4 recovery truck(the oldest MB he has worked on is W123 diesel), so he called me and I went over with 4 litre of gasoline, ATF and a few other *persuasion* tools, expecting a worn out 190D or 220S at best.
When I saw the 300SE script on the C pillars,I paid the shop owner and took the car off his hands
It's a technically interesting machine, maybe I'll just park it in my *dead car park* and marvel at all the stuff it carried back in 1964-65
Right now I have:
Opel Manta A(leaking water pump)
BMW 3.0Si(howling rear axle)
BMW 633CSi(assorted body waterleaks,burning oil)
Mercedes W115 200(pulling brakes,crunchy+notchy gearchange)
and of course the grandaddy of them all, W191 170DS(needs everything done)
Maybe I'll die and be spared the agony of W112 restoration..........

Right now it looks like a guy from Japan is interested, the MB shop owner sent him over to look at it. I may get out from under this yet
