68 or 69? resto update

First, the car I am restoring is registered as a 68 but the headrest shape and a label I found under the rear seat is telling me that the car really is a 69. How can this be?

Now for an update, the car is 90% done. I am doing a final check on the uphostery today, it is going back to the body shop for final touch up/fix and it is going to a local mechanic for a few mechnical stuff. When I get that car back, I will be installing the upper wood pieces and I am done!!!!

I can't wait to drive this thing to car shows and sunny Sunday drives!

I am going to take some pictures on Monday. It will have some tapes from me finding small things for the body shop but you will get the idea.

no, I went to the shop but it was pretty dirty. I am going over there tomorrow. It is soooo pretty. The completed interior (w/o the upper wood) leather looks and feels new. It will be great.
I will post some pictures if I get some clean shots.

Looks really nice!

It's hard to tell exactly what color the car is.

Is it a silvery-blue metallic?

Looks like someone may have swapped out the interior and bumpers with a newer model. These had the wood console tray up to 1970 and no rubber inserts in the bumpers. 1969 was first year for headrests. Nice car however. I might be interested in some of the leather pieces if you can post high resolution pictures. I love the smell of the original leather in these.

I think it is a 69

but the registration says 68. The uphostery shop found the sticker below the rear seat with the manufacturing date of 69. I am not sure how that happened. I am pretty sure it is a 69.
Thanks.

That looks unbelievable! Great job! I need to get that kind of stuff done to my car. The interior is awesome. I don't care what people say about restoring a coupe, its worth every penny.

I probably spent more than what these cars are going for however, I wanted to do it for me and eventually, if I hold on to it for long enough, I will get it back not that I would sell it.

I think the market right now is for all the hot rods and muscle cars due to all the popular TV shows but I know the market, it will turn around and the european cars will shine in a few years.

Thanks for all your kind words. The car is beautiful and I am going to drive it, take good care of it and enjoy it.

I'd love to get together with you and see the car when it's done.

I believe we live pretty close to each other. I am in Diamond Bar, off of the 57 freeway.
