Yea, how big of a project would that be? I know its hard to say without seeing the car. But 1k seems like a good deal even if it was a 5 year project to get it restored.

Seems like a PITA.

Might be cool if you worked at a mercedes shop, had access to all the old tools, years of experience with these cars, and superb parts hook up.

Other than that I'd rather put a down on a nice vacation home

pontons were very early unibody cars. If there is ANY underside rust on that car (note that there are no pictures of the lower half the car), then it's not worth restoring.

Other than that, have fun with it. There are several great ponton resources available. Parts are still relatively plentiful. -CTH
