Linkage Breakage?
Drove to the 7-11 tonite in my 75 450 SE.
A couple days ago while driving I noticed a slight clicking sound and a little bit different shifting characteristics. Tonite, tho something broke in an intersection. Had to push it into the 7-11 lot. Doesn't want to go in any gear- the shift lever handle moves, but nothing, alto I think it does activate Park. Tomorrow I'm going to have it towed. My guess is that it's a linkage issue and that the innards of the trans are o.k. What do you think? (Trans was rebuilt about 8 yrs ago and has only about 30 or 40,000 on it at most) |

It sounds like the shifting lever on the transmission is moving, so I would guess it's something more than just linkage. It could be something simple like a bushing.
