Battery keeps dying on my 1978 280ce...

My battery keeps dying and has to be replaced every three weeks. I called a place ( someone on this board recommended) and he told me it was an easy fix and I could do it myself. Hee said pop the hood and look on the right side under the fuse box. He said there is a black wire(s) that I should pull out. Once its pulled out I sould not have problems with my batterie dying.
so...

anyone know which wire should be pulled, if any? Does someone have a picture of this wire?

I think the real question is how many volts does your alternator produce, should be about 13 volts or more. And how many amps does your battery produce?

The mystery wire sounds like something a previous owner installed, say permanent hot wire to sound system or another accessory that bypasses the key switch.

The guy I talked to never saw the car, we spoke on the phone. I installed a cd player myself, could that cause a problem? But I didnt run anywires from the battery. I ran one from the ignition so it would shut off at night.

Take it to Wally's world, they will run a free diagnostic test of alternator volts and battery amps under load. That telephone guy must be psychic picking the wire over the phone.

battery drain

sounds to me like the servo for the A/C may not be parking causing the battery drain, that is pretty common, best way to determine is to remove both electrical plugs from the servo and see if the battery still goes dead.
the servo is the unit under the hood with all the coolant hoses and vacuum lines going to it, the plugs are below the vacuum connections
