280SE 4.5 Seat track broken

Hi all,
My driver's side seat track is broken.
It has adjustable seat height and it's the right track that's broken. Haven't taken it out yet to inspect more closely.
Is this fixable or do I have to find a replacement track? If so, where?
Thanks.
Fritz

w116 seat track might be same as w123..... the right side has a slider bar that equalizes the adjust from the left side...... new handles for the adjust can be found at www.**************.com for $15..... maybe they can dig up the track too.

Broken seat track? That's a new one. I have seen a lot of old benzes (benzi?) and that is a first. I am fairly sure that I have a complete assembly in my parts collection. Make sure of what your problem is first, but I can probably help you. You should be able to look at it from the floor of the back seat with a trouble light and confirm what is going on. The driver's seat is a little more complex because it has two sets of rails, one for back & forth, the other for up and down (which works going back & forth)

I've never heard of a seat track breaking. If anything the handle may break or the bolts come loose. To actually break one, that would be interesting to see. This is the handle on the front that controls position to the steering wheel as opposed to side of the seat that controls height. It would be possible to break the handle.

Well,
To clarify, it's a w108.
What appears to be broken is the the tip of the right side track. It consists of a lower and an upper part, that are joined together by a sort of rivet. It looks like it's part of the seat height adjustment. I'll run down and see if I can get a picture, but its getting dark here...
Anyways, all the handles are fine, you could tow a car with them... Maybe not a Benz, but my Miata...

Thats right the rivet does break loose on the handle, I completely forget about that. Its been 10+ years since I worked on a w108. I would assume its easy to fix. Usually I just replaced them but that was when it was still possible to buy a MB with manual adjusting seats. They may still be available but they are not cheap. Back in 1985 I think they were about $35. You could pick up a used one for next to nothing. Still would try to repair it, the seat is easy to take out.

Fixed it, well kinda.
The lower track is in fact broken right in the middle at the center srew hole. This track is the one the seat height adjustment slides on. Both these tracks were stuck badly by never having been greased. so I regreased everything, put a screw at the end were you see a wire - it's no rivet, but a screw, re-aligned the tracks and now ervything works like a charm.
