how to get more power?

Other than running rich my car a 72 280 se is just fine, as any auto guy knows the internal combustion engine will in theory go faster with more fuel and air and if you can get enough in there you can get enough power to destroy your engine!
That is not what I want to do though... All cars for the N american market have mandatory controls that limit HP and emmisions , ie linkage, computer settings, air and fuel restrictors etc.
I want to know on my car, 4.5l engine, what is used, so I can decide what I want to defeat.
I have to do a complete tune up so I will add these tasks to it. I am capable on going into the module and changing a resistor or other part if needed, so post your replies, also any other fuel saving mods would be of interest too
Thanks
Paul
