Ebay 3.5 Cab is it real?

Its item number 4571746095
Ebay 3.5 Cab?

The serial number for this car is 11102412005009. I thought that 111-024 was a SN for a 6cyl coupe? My 6-cyl cab is a 111-025. If it was a coupe conversion I couldn't tell from the pics, the part I look for is the gap between the trunk lid and the chrome trim around the base of the top. Or is this the ultra rare double conversion, a 6 to V8 conversion as well as an Coupe to Cab conversion?

Since its looks like a Euro car, I don't know if the stuff I see on the dash is Euro specific or from a early car. For example, the AC looks like its from the pre-70's w111's, the hazard switch is in a location I don't recognize and it looks like the front doors were retrofitted with power windows as there are little trim pieces in the door where the cranks would have been.

Made up car!

The 111024 serial number cannot lie - this is a conversion! It is also quite a phonybaloney conversion, cleverly and deviously disguised.

The seller took a late 11024 coupe with the low grille and inserted a 3.5 L engine (it has the correct low grill and the incorrect V8 engine). It's impossible to tell whether the A pillar/w/s frame is the correct reinforced, thick one for a cabriolet, because of a lack of photographs that would show this to be the case or not.

The A/C looks like it came from a 108 or 109 sedan, but the rest of the dash is genuine 111.

Another clue is the PW for the front only! This is typical of a low-optioned 111 280SE coupe. True cabs have either PW or manual windows - not a hybrid mix. The trunk springs do suggest a genuine cab but where are the series of vent openings on the top back of the trunk frame?

Bottom line -somebody did a lot of work in creating this faux cabriolet, but it's a pretty, clean vehicle so the high bidder may end up happy after all.
