I've searched to archives and have not really found what I was looking for so I'll start this thread. I have an opportunity to buy a '73 450SL with 128K miles. I will use this as a third car so I don't expect to rake up tons of miles.

What should I be aware of with the 450 as far as scheduled maintenance and problems? I've never driven one but am attracted to the long-lived cast-iron engine. Any advice will be appreciated.

fuel injection systems first. Because finding a tech that knows those systems is getting to be harder to find, and some parts can run into the thousands, as Aaron can attest to. So, have the injection checked out by a pro, to make sure is is in A-1 condition, and then see about buying it. They are nice cars!
