108 Front Clip - Central Coast CA
Any Central CA Benz Addicts out there?
Todd? I'm hoping to see if someone can let me know if the front fenders, hood, and grille that were for sale over on Corbett Canyon a few weeks ago are still out there. My girlfriend and I are from the area and saw it last time we were down there, and will be returning to see family for her birthday at the end of the month. They were about 1/2-1mi north of Hwy 227 on the Arroyo Grande side. If anyone is in the area, can you verify they're still there? And if you are over there, can you knock on the door and ask how much they want for it? I tried the two days I was there last, but have been unable to get ahold of them. If it is available, I'm going to bring the truck down and retrieve them. If not, hopefully her 4.5 has its new head gaskets so we can take it on its inaugral run down the coast. If we do bring it down (halloween weekend) and any of you fellow old Benzers are around, it might be fun to see if we can assemble a cruise around the area, show the area some more class |

More than likely, we'll stay around the Pismo Beach/Arroyo Grande area, maybe a short jaunt to Bakersfield to my family's place.
If she stays together, we'll be taking her to a wedding in Ventura on Thanksgiving weekend (crosses fingers) |

I would be open to a get together over the last weekend in Oct. The wife and I have not been up to the Pismo Beach area yet. Please let me know when your final plan is set.

I'd be happy to check on this for you. Email me directly at austinado16 at cs dot com
A Benz cruise would be fun. Just had mine out yesterday....windows down, roof open, like a good coupe should. |

billrei , did you make it down to the Irvine meet this past Saturday? I think you were on the list but didn't see you there. I stayed around until about 4PM or so.

No I did not make it down to the meet. Unfortunately I had to work Saturday morning and by the time I left work it was already early afternoon. So the wife and I checked out the small car show at the Goleta Lemon Festival. There were some nice hot rods and some vintage machines but no Mercedes.

How was the show and how was the turn out. I gave it some serious thought....mmm, $3.25/gal for fuel, for 500mi. Just to show off my rust, checking 3 layer paint job, crappy faded replacement carpet and peeling dash wood. Just couldn't bring myself to do it.

The event had a great turnout. There were 200 cars according to benzworld but there were only a few "vintage" cars. Mine was the 2nd oldest! The 190SL was very nice but the owners were only present for a short time. I took a shot of the old cars. There was an older couple with a 1980 240D 4 Speed Manual, a 1983 300D Turbo, my 77' 6.9, a 1990 300SE, a 560SEC..with nitrous? and the 190SL.
Todd, you would have been in good company in our "section". My car had the least amount of paint there and without the hood pad or a levelled rear bumper. It was fun chatting with the diesel owners though. |

200 cars is a nice little turn out. It's a shame there weren't more old examples there. I would have thought more would show up, especially in southern CA.
Mine's just no where near ready for that yet. It's just way too screwed up. |
