Mileage badges

How do you go about getting these?

My parents have two oldies (1972 280SEL 4.5, mom's daily driver since circa 1980; 1969 280SEc) both with plenty of miles to qualify, I should think. But Dad's not the type to send off for such a thing, though I think he'd like to have it if somebody else thoughtfully went to the trouble for him. ... And the '83 300D I just bought turned 216K on my way home from my son's out-of-town football game last night, and I just figured out that's close to 350,000 when it comes to kilometers.

How does that grille-badge system work?

The answer is in the archives many times, but here is anothern.

250K km = 153K mi
500K km = 312K mi
1 milkm = you do the math

Call 1-800-for-merc and ask for the mileage award paperwork. Some say you can obtain the paperwork online, possibly at mbusa.com, but I never tried that. Fill out the paperwork, then get it signed off. Directions say it has to be signed by a dealer, most of us have done that, some have accomplished wihtout. When I went to the closest dealership they guy I spoke with had no idea what I was talking about. Once I educated him he verified my odometer and signed. A few week later I received my badge. The badges have recently changed, I'm not sure if they are better now or not (haven't seen one in real life, just pictures here).

It'd be nice to have 'em all. So get the badge for your 300D, it deserves the 250K award.

How does the dealer verify a 5-digit odometer if one wants to get the mileage award? I emailed MBUSA, they said to call them about it because I mentioned since the multi-KM 240D in the Stuttgart museum has been verified of its mileage, how did they do it?
