turn signal switch 78 300cd

it's the oddest thing... the signal lights work but the turn signal switch doesn't lock into position. also, there's this buzzing in my center console by my hazard switch whenever i try to use the turn signal. i'm wondering if the switch is bad or the relay is bad... or perhaps both?

any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,
alyssa

turn signal

I've dealt with this more than once, usualy all you need to do is clean the Emergency Flasher. Especially if you don"t have a cup holder .another thing to check is the "E" flasher stuck in a between stage of on and off. Acheep and easy fix good luck

Clean all your contacts if you have a buzzing noise when the dirrectionals are on. For the dirrectional switch not staying down, if you remone the two screws holding the switch to the column and look inside at the small rollers that move when you move the stalk, using a small round file to re-work the area that the roller rests in when its pushed down. You don't have to remove the switch completely from the car it should take you about 15 min.

When I did the surgery that ILUVMILS suggested, I used my dremel with a approx. 1/8 bit with a spiral cutting edge. Worked well.
Test after each bit of "tuning".
