Wearing you folks out But more 71 220 questions, interior part removal
I want to remove the door plastic things that are at the bottom of the doors as well as the "B" pillar MB tex. This is so I can remove the rest of the carpeting, any clues. THere is one screw in the B pillar , nothing else I can see. Removing did not help. My 84 has a plastic cap with fasterners under it but not on this one
Thanks in advance!

If you refer to the grey plastic sill covers, they are held tightly but lift off, starting at one end - the front as I remember. They are hard to get off at first but after it starts coming off pull hard. You'll see I am sure.
The B pillar covers come loose starting at the bottom and have a small hook that goes into a slot as I recall. Its been a while but I had more trouble with seat belt retractors on the door pillars than I did with the covers. Do you have retractors with a take up reel on the pillar? I finally went aftermarket retractors. They work great.

It aint gonna be easy putting the carpet back in place tucked at the edges, you understand. 35 yr old door sills will probably never fit the same again.
Just my opinion, but messing with doorsills falls into "can of worms" category.... kinda like screwing around with the headliner. Caint you just lift the carpet side strips and leave em tucked on top.... then paint or rust repair whatever you want underneath? |

looked a little closer and I do have some rust under the door sills, So I may have to remove sometime in the future,
Dieselhard, I do not have retractors, belts just hang from the top bolt, retractors appear to be at the seat level
