1978 Slc

Hey guys, first post, I have a customer with a '78 SLC with 27k on it, the water pipe behind the motor for the heat and heater core is rotted. I can't seen to locate one, I can make one if need be but would rather not. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thanks Don

I would think a pipe from a 450SL and maybe other 107's would work. I am surprised that the dealers wouldn't have them, but you can try the recyclers like TMC in Baltimore, Potomac German Auto in Maryland or Sun City Recyclers in CA.

Did you try a Mercedes dealer?

The reason I ask is that I bought the same part for my 250C a couple of years ago. It had to be ordered from Europe through the dealer, but they found it.

The dealer said they can't get it, they even called the classic car division for old Mercedes but came up empty.

I would specifically ask your dealer if they tried Europe as well as the US. That's what they had to do for the hard-to-find-stuff for my 114's.

The Classic Center is not going to be of help because the car is not old enough.
