Kick down switch on a 109 4.5

I had an excellent kick down switch would really punch at about 60 or so. When I had my transmissions gaskets replaced somehow it got screwed up and now the "kick down" does not occure untill about 45 or so and much of nothing at 60+. I will not take it back to the tech that the the reseal. How do I adjust my Kick down switch?

If you shorten the rod pictured (remove the air filter assembly), it should raise the shift points and the kickdown points.

Tom, what should I expect my shift points to be around? I think its shifting a bit... premature... Although from what I remember from my 67 250SE, that was common with the 3spd autos....

Depends how much throttle you use when you accelerate. I have a heavy foot, I think mine usually shifts around 25-30 and then 45-50. If it shifts early on you, shorten the linkage rod as pictured.

Maybe, I'm looking for a passing gear, I had one before I got the tranny sealed now I do not have much of one at all, from 60 to 80 I used to rocket by cars now Its just a slow pony.

If you floor it at 60-80, it should DEFINETLY kick into 2nd gear. If it doesn't, chances are that switch got disconnected somehow. Check the plug and wires for it.

hm, shifts a lot earlier in traffic than I remember. Into 2nd probably around 15-20, and into 3rd probably at 30-35 (maybe earlier).
