Another Puzzle - Shift Linkage now suspect on the Ol 220 - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

Got the neutral safety switch back on but now I am suspect that the linkage from the shifter has been jury rigged. It just does not look right. I thought this when I took it off. Anyway my Hanes as well as my parts manual does not show any of the linkage. basically I got the shift rod that ends in a traigular metal piece with 3 holes in it a pressure bolt to attach to the rod comming out of the transmision and a brass traingular piece that sits inside of the safety switch and connects to the rod via one small brass screw. All kinda loosey goosey. Any help?,.

better yet a picture
If I knew of a 220 W115 around here I'd crawl under and look

went by the Benz stealership today to see if they could provide me a picture, no luck???

started from the beginning. Took the entire linkage off, fiddled with it while off and figured out the it was on wrong!
I re assembled and with some adjustments, new rubber grommets and keepers as well as the cleaned safety switch I got her back. SHift pattern feels good, I have back up lights and she starts in park. My my I may be able to help someone someday after this go round!

and how, pray tell, does one simply have "new rubber grommets and keepers" lying about??

Ahh, Luck I guess.
On a whim I bought some at the stealership the other day. Actually the keepers were not the right size but a little fileing and they worked. THe grommets were about the same , but not as tight as I expected, closer exam and I noticed that the metal was actually worn from use! I beefed up the rubber with a few wraps of electrical tape for now until I can find a little larger grommet.
