first trip in the 250
EDIT: Photos at last!!! Click to enlarge them.
You've seen my questions getting the car back on the road and today I will be taking my first trip in it other then small local runs. Today will be about 50 miles one way, half expressway, half city. So far my list gos; -new tires -new brake rotors / pads on all four -driver front wheel bearing set replaced -passanger side wheel bearing repacked -new head gasket -used engine swap with clean head -new motor mounts -new coolant hoses -used "perfect" seats with center arm rest -Becker Europa 2 stereo with factory 4 speaker harness swaped in -worlds ****tyest alarm system removed along with worlds ****tyest installation -used turn signal switch -numerious other small repairs I payed $500 for the car, not a spec of rust and still wearing her factory coat of paint. The total bill with the parts car (seats, engine, and harnesses) I have about $1500 into it.

She ran the 100 mile trip with no problems. My only complaints are 10 mpg and man does that car rev on the highway, it feels like it needs another gear in the city but d. I wouldn't take it above 80 because of the revs. I'm working on photos of the project right now, theres about 50 and I will have them hosted on a different site to save you guys on a slower connection.

I bought the car "needing a head gasket and maybe a head", turns out the head is perfect and the gasket was bad along with the block. $400 parts car from a local friend and all was solved. I put the perfect head off the bad block on the good block
I installed a complete factory 4 speaker radio harness in place of the single monotone that was in the blue car. The white car is the parts car obviously. The blue car has a great no rust body and a mediocor interior and the parts car had a great interior so all the seats got swaped as well. Photos at last!!! Click to enlarge them.

Good about your engine.
Check out the bottom end before doing long-term high revs. Your car is just geared that way. Nothing you can do but swar rear end with a 280SE if that would work.

Nice work man, the photos show it to be a handsome car. Nice work, doubly good for someone so young! Enjoy the ride. The blue is the same blue on my 230 prior to stripping it to bare metal for a DB180 silver respray.

Damn if your rear bumper isn't bent in exactly the same place as my '71 220.
I swapped a 3.07 differential into mine and it is Sooooo happy now The diff came out of my '83 300D turbo when I put a '85 diff into it (2.82). That car also much happier now. I suggest using a contactless ignition like either pertronix or Crane (optical) together with a CD ignition. Performance will be better and you won't have to do a "tune up" again!

I cut holes in the rear deck for larger speakers, that is a real job, to avoid the reinforcing metal parts I haven't finished that part of the project yet. Love that lil 115 bugger though!
