Help guys...108 window problem

I traveled home for Christmas...beautiful weather right now thankfully. Anyway, this morning I ran to the filling station for a cup of coffee and rolled the windows down, everything worked fine. Now I can not get the right front window to roll up. The fuses are good, the switch works (at least for the down position), there is power to the switch. I tried jumping from the hot lead to the green and to the blk/whi lead, no joy. I tried bringing 12v power direct from the battery to the terminal block in the door, again no joy.

The window isn't all the way down, and bringing power to the block I can't get it to move up or down but can move down via the switch. How can I jumper the power to make the window work from the terminal block? I seem to recall something about all the switches having to be connected on these cars, but not sure if I'm remembering this correctly.

In case this is a case of a dead motor, how can I get the window up before the weather turns bad, or I have to go back to work? I'm leaving for Michigan on Tuesday, so I'm thinking of just unbolting the regulator and puch the window up and wedging a block of wood to keep it up until I can dig in to the door a little deeper.

I have a few more minutes to play with it before we take all the kids and cousins and family to Sea World for the day.

Thanks all.

Try swapping the left window switch temporarily and see if you can get the window to go up.

I tried switch swapping, no joy.

I found, much to my luck, that the sliding jaw isn't riveted like later models. The plastic slider is retained by a spring clip. I was able to open the clip and slide the glass up to get it closed. This afternoon I will try bring pos and neg leads direct from the battery. I had only brought pos power to the terminal before, didn't think about bringing a neg lead.

With the glass disconnected I was able to move the arm down a little further by the switch but it wouldn't go up. I was thinking that perhaps the glass had been binding in the channel but that wasn't the culprit.

I'll let y'all know how it works once I bring both leads to the terminal block.

Thanks guys.

we have joy

Ahh, relief.

It is the switch gone bad. Brought both pos and neg leads to the terminal block, motor cycles both directions. I reconnected the sliding jaw and powered the window closed. I will disconnect the switch for now, to keep the kids from rolling down the window if the wife drives while I'm gone.

I am somewhat relieved as I really didn't want to head back north for work without closing up the door panel. Unknown exactly when I'll get home again, probably a couple months.

Again, for future reference for those in the same boat, the sliding jaw is not riveted on the 108's and most likely 109's. I don't know what other models/years have spring clip connection for the sliding jaws.

Thanks for the help guys.

I'm sure the rivet is an 'improvement' on the W126.

Deleting the clip probably saved upwards of $.0000001 per vehicle.
