Rims and model interchangability

I have 65' 220SEB coupe and am looking for feedback regarding rims and model interchangability.
13' rims and tyres just aint right on a car this big.

Would appreciate some feedback.

Peter

!4-inch rims from the W108 250/280 S & SE up to 1968, will bolt right up. Those rims also have the 3 nubs stamped into the centers to secure the small hubcaps used on the Fintails, early W111 coupes and early W108 sedans. Of course, if your coupe currently has 13-inch trim-rings and you want some on the new rims, you'll need to find some 14-inch ones.
The W114/115 14-inch rims should bolt up too, but those might not have the nubs to hold the early hubcaps, so you'll need the one-piece 14 inch hubcaps used from '68. Last summer, I saw Bundt-cakes on a 220SE coupe. I'm not crazy about the Bundts, but I do think they look better on the coupe, than on a Fintail.

Happy Motoring, Mark

rims and tyres

Thanks for the feedback gents.
i was kinda hoping a modern set of std benz alloys would do the trick.
I have a set of alloys off a 114 that fit but dont like the look much.

there is a lot

of interchangability in benz rims. up to about 1990 or so i bet you can bolt them up and go. some rims beginning then or a little earlier look the same but have different backsets and you might get into clearance problems with the suspension and or fenders. measure carefully before spending money.

Thanx for that Tom ...and you are right the offset is a worrying concern.
But look a the specific measurements to be safe.

111 rims

I installed 16x8 chrome 600SL wheels on my 3.5 coupe. Due to the offset (ET34) I had to use spacers and convert to studs. With practically any wheel that's wider than original you may have to deal with clearance issues. I can't get the picture to post but if you want one I will email it to you.
