Rear Door needed for 72 300SEL

My W109 300SEL 3.5 got hit in the drivers side rear door by a SUV backing up in a parking lot. Fortunately all the damage is confined to just the door but the door is creased so badly it needs to be replaced. Does anyone know of a good parts yard around Santa Barbara area were I might find the longer rear door for a 300SEL? I tried calling the Mercedes recycling yard in Sun Valley but they have no doors.

TIA Bill

If you run across a 300sel 3.5 with a silver spray paint exterior, let me know. It's mine and it's MIA. -CTH

Hmm, check sacramento.craigslist .... I believe I saw a 300 SEL for 500 bucks in Lodi.

I'll check it out and find the link. if you find it before me, I *might* be able to go see it. If so....we might be able to work out some transportation.

If not, I'll keep my eyes peeled at Pick - n- pull, time to go find some spare fuses and although I haven't come across a 109 yet, I've found SEVERAL 108's.

Thanks Bradley for the lead. However living in an apartment limits my options to just the bare necessities. Eventually I would like to have a place where I could transfer all the rebuilt mechanicals of this car to a clean Southern Cal. chassis.

Check Chula Vista

Not sure there is anythign up around Santa Barbara, however if you want to make the trip down to the border, the salvage yards in Chula Vista will almost definatley have something. Last time i was at the Ecololgy at Brown Field they had probably 3 SEL's. Quite a drive from SB, but you can get a whole bunch of other goodies while you're there! Chula Vista has 3 yards that usually have older benzes - all pull your own.

Wouldn't the W108 280SEL have the same door? If so that would widen your selection of donors substantially. You'd have to transfer the interior trim but you'll likely have to do that anyway.

edward: What are you asking about? Maybe a new thread would be best. I'd hope Bill found his door by February, nevermind nearly December!
