Howdy,

I have a '73 280 SEL 4.5 with original navy peppered carpet. The orig carpet is OK, but of course I'd like it to look new. I sent off for a sample set from GAHH (http://www.gahh.com/).

I'm pretty satisfied with the carpet. It seems to be a quality representation of the orignal square loop but there is one important difference that maybe someone could explain:

The original "peppering" is made with lighter blue loops on navy loops whereas the sample has darker (almost black) loops on navy loops. I think the GAHH sample is a little bluer as opposed to the muted colors of the MB OEM carpet. This may just be age.

I was comparing a sample of the carpet under the center column cover so there should not have been much fade under there.

What results has anyone else had with square weave carpet sets?

Thanks,

Sholin

my carpet sux

Hey..I just got a 1969 mercedes 250 and the carpet in it is like deteriorated! Woof! Supposedly an old lady owned it, NOW surely she didn't mangle this rug!! The color of mine sounds like yours. Do you have any of your old carpet left? I need the rear passenger piece! Mines missing. If it looks terrible, that's OK. This carpet is bad anyhow.
I have another question. Do you know how to tell the chassis number? Is it the first 3 numbers of the VIN? I'd don't even know what chassis mine is. I just got it 3 days ago, with NO owner's manual. Christy

hey christy,
I just got a 67 250se coupe and the chassis # is a 111 which is the first 3 digits of the vin. is yours a two door? cause I think if it's a four the number is different. if you check out this link http://www.dhc.net/~pmhack/mercedes/models.htm
you can see other peoples cars and the chassis numbers are always listed. it's kinda fun to see other peoples rides.

I just bought my 1970 MB220 last week (W115) and when I got it, the interior was totally yucky so I took out the carpets and scrubbed the floors. The front carpet set seemed to be in reasonably good condition for a 30 year old car, but the rear ones were a torn and greasy and generally disgusting. I decided to try to wash them, but they began disintegrating as I picked them up!!! I saw someone selling a carpet set for a W114/115, but stupid me, I didn't bookmark the link. Not that I could afford them anyway.

I can't wait till I have enough money to fix this puppy up. It's the first really cool car I've owned and I think I'm hooked.

carpet

Hey Skrunch!! That carpet can cost quite a few bones!! I know that the site http://www.millermbz.com have carpet sets. I think they're, like, $375.00, though. AND they're probably not the only place and MAYBE not the cheapest, it's just somewhere that has them. If you find an incredible deal...let me know!!!! I need a set too!!

I guess that carpet wasn't meant to last 30+ years! I know MINE didn't!!!!!!
