color change question
I'm curious about your thoughts on changing paint and/or upholstery colors. My normal procedure is to re-do things as necessary, but leave colors as they came from the factory. Even horrible greens and whatnot can look cool and retro on the right car. My problem is a 280C that is, or used to be, bright red with palomino? interior. I just can't stomach bright red. The interior is an OK color and neutral enough that I could do whatever I want on the outside, but doing a proper color change involves door jambs, under the hood, etc...what do you think?

To pay a pro to do the color change will get pricey quickly, more so than just a respray in the same color. I am doing this on a w113 for dark blue (which wasn't right) to silver. The dash needs painted on this car as well. It will easily run above $6k-$10k. I guess this is where you start thinking about the overall value of the car. For me it's more a question of economics and what I like rather than wanting to keep a car the original color code. I don't care if a car is the same factory color, color changes can be good.
Changing from bright red is perhaps worth it though... Best of luck, I understand exactly where you are coming from.
