How would it be possible to make a 108 into a convertible without massive undercarriage reinforcement? Talk about a deathtrap!
Look at that temp gauge. I hope it's busted

Converted-mobiles
There've been a couple of these deathtraps up in last few years - one 111 in L.A. area which was chopped but NO top (And I've got stress cracks at the C pillar attachment on my intact factory 250SE/c);for sunshine runs only (until it goes over a bump and folds up in the middle like a rusty frame box old 220SEc)
Also a W123 280CE which was given a body shop convertible top whose mechanism didn't stand the test of time (But did have floor/frame stiffening added), sold in Ct to a guy who's now selling it in Santa Rosa, Ca (If anyone wants to fix that top, I can get hold of him - prolly pretty cheap) Looks as though the "chopper" didn't win, I think, although... Among the other civil rights exists, I suspect, the right to die folded up in a Mercedes looking like an Origami crane. Hopefully, without taking any innocents with you... |
