Move this forum!

Hi all,

With all the changes in this site (all of which are great!) I'm worried the vintage forum will get overlooked. It seems we loose a little of the userbase every time a site opens up for a different car. I could imagine a w114/w115 site opening up and this place drying up quick! Also, we're well into the second page down on the list because of the new forums created by whunter, and I think this is gonna cause us to be missed by more new people coming into the forum. Anyway, I posted this to bill, lemme know what ya'll think.

"Finally, wouldn't it be good to move the vintage forum up to the tech help and diesel forums? The vintage forum is now a full two pages down the list, and will fall further and further behind in posts and community interaction as newbies miss it and post too the tech forum. Eventually, I'm afraid the vintage forum will loose out to other sites on the net that cater to particular older benz models. Over the years people have bled away as these other sites go up...I can imagine a w114/w115 site springing up and taking the last few members from the vintage forum. It needs to be more prominent!

Anyway bill, this really is a fantastic resource for MB users, and truely the only place to go for DIY benz info!"

cheers,
dan r.

I forwarded your post over to the moderators only forum. This seems like a reasonable request to me.

I also agree. Also, further, is it possible to make a "Base" forum for the rust repair/whatever stuff, which THEN has more specific links? Really, Vintage should be right below Diesel Discussion I think.

yeah, I think one rust area would be good, I mean 2 or 3 would be OK, but not 8

We have a ton of forums, too many.
The problem with having so many, is you have to dig ALOT harder to find the information...

Good intentions though, but One rust areas enough imho

Thumbs up Done!

The Vintage forum has long outgrown its roots as a "discussion" forum and should be in the technical section of the Shop Forum.

Thanks for listening to us all. We love our Vintage Forum almost as much as we love our Vintage Benzes!

I consolidated the Body repair section as well. These are things I considered doing but was out of town all last week and wanted to wait until I returned home.

The Vintage forum has become a valuable resource to be sure and needs to be in the technical section. We might even be at the point where we need 2 moderators instead of just one. Any ideas?

I'll step up to the task. I spend enough time here to watch over.
