280s smoking
hi i have a 1968 280s with about a hundred thousand miles on it. when i bought the car i did a compression test and it checked out perfectly. it smoked when i bought it due to a hole in the round rubber diaphram on the transmission. i replaced this and went my merry way without any problems. now my car smokes like crazy. i took the air cleaner off and there is fresh oil in the carburators. i am at a total loss as this engine is somewhat new for me. anyone have any ideas on what it could be? any input is aprecciated. thanks.

does that have a mechanical fuel pump?
i think i remember that if the diaphram in the fuel pump leaks it can suck oil into the intake at least on some cars.
maybe that was on my old fifties caddies and pontiacs, which have a vac pump on the top of the fuel pump so that the windshield wipers dont stop when you step on the gas. i doubt that this car has that. so maby it is a pcv problem. does that one have an oil separater? tom w
