108 4.5 resonator query

Is it just me, or are these items rarer than hen's teeth? I know conventional wisdom will say "do a whole SS system" such as timevalve but I have seen good and bad comments about that product. The rest of my pipes seem super solid but the resonator, or second, rear-most muffler, is shot. Any worthwhile experiences/resources to share? Am toying with checking a local exhaust shop for ideas. TIA

Timevalve's reference #'s are usually MB part numbers. That's how I got the p/n for my header pipe which Phil was able to get for me. 112.491.3401 -> H5000-69441 on Fastlane for $99.14, and H5000-44755 on Fastlane for $249.66, or you can call timevalve to see how much a stainless one would be.

Timevalve system is about $750 from manifold back, including hangers, clamps, and chrome tips.

Doing only the rear muffler will be a problem, as it is welded on (and must be, it will sag badly if clamped instead).

If the resonator is bad, it's very likely the front muffler is shot too, as you will find out when you replace the rear and it's still noisy.

Someday when I get rich (very unlikely at this point, I'm putting a new floor in the kitchen this weekend....) I'm going with Timevalve (or when the old muffler falls off the rest of the way, whichever comes first....)

Hey peter, good to see you back in action on the forum. I noticed the welding!! So, If I go with timevalve, it must clamp together since, as I understand it, not every shmoe (like me) can weld SS? BTW, I found one of your old threads from 2002 asking about timevalve -- you never put the system in then on your 108, huh?

My rear muffler isn't welded on, AFAIK... it's some type of pressure fit in there?

No, they should all be welded to prevent drooping, that exhaust is VERY heavy.

No, I've not put an exhaust on -- something about too many projects and not enough money.

I did put a new manifold on -- the old one came out in bits! Much quieter now....

The recent exhaust "cash" just went for new flooring i the kitchen.
