New rebuilt electric fuel pump on w116 80 280se is noisy. Almost sounds like the vibration from it running, can here it run from inside the car...is this normal? Bob

check your mounting.....I believe they are rubber isolated and not in direct physical cantact with the body. If they are they will appear far louder than they should be.

the mounting stuff is all stock. The rubber mounts are in place. I have revived this car from siiting in doors after 9 years. I have it starting an running good....it still seems to be a bit rich....a small amount of blue smoke at idle...seems sporadic....If a sensor wasnt firing would not some of the oil from that cylinder go out the exhaust? On my longest prelim ride the other day after 30 minutes the car started dying...my assumption no gas....pressure or vacuum build up in tank? I was able to drive it several miles to get it home...it seemed to be getting worse. So the loud fuel pump has me suspicious as possibly tied into this dying while on the road. Last night I took a shorter ride with the gas cap loose..no evidence of stalling but the pump was loud....Bob
