You must be high to undertake that project! Alas there is nothing that money can't fix when it comes to that 3500. I haven't seen one on the road since the 80's, keep us posted.

That Ex-GM aluminum V8 isn't a bad engine as long as it hasn't been overheated or corroded. However, it's a real shoe-horn installation in the Rover and the original twin sidedraft carbs are something else. A friend had a Triumph TR-8 convertible with the same (or similar) engine, that the previous owner had converted to a 4V Holley intake and carb. That car was fairly relable up until when my friend lost interest and moved on to something else.
Happy Motoring, Mark

Hey Mark, what did the Sunbeam Tiger have under the hood - maybe a smallblock Ford 302? Strikes me that was the ultimate Brit V-8 sleeper, by all outward appearances just a 2 seater English economy car.

I can name a couple of others.
Jensen Interceptor comes to mind with a huge Chrysler 440 engine. Another car on my list once I get a bigger garage

FWIW, the Buick/Rover V8 was not the engine that powered the Triumph Stag. That unit was a Triumph "engineered" unit somewhat similar to the TR-7s lump. Not so good......

Stag V8
The stag engine was basically two 4 cyl engine was a 3 litre v8 and from what I remember may have been designed as two 1500 engines stuck together.

You should post those over at Grassroots Motorsports. They have a soft spot for British/eclectic cars. I would have had a hard time leaving them there also

Alabbasi--Awesome! I remember seeing a couple of 3500s driving around Westport, CT in the mid 1970s. I even remember that one of them had the spare mounted on the trunk, which I think was an option. Keep us posted. Love your 6.9.

Will keep you posted
I'll make sure I keep the group updated and add pictures to my website.
I'm sure that with the combination of Mercedes Benz and Rover engineering, I'll have some dependable vintage transport

I'd advise you not to get those Rovers. They are bigger money pits than your 6.9's. Concentrate on your 108 and 116's. IMHO.
