OK, I finally took a look at the heater box in my 280SEL 4.5 which had been bypassed at some point in its history.

I discovered that the valves are seized (no surprise) and that a PO had disconnected both cables from the valves and also started to try and take apart one valve before giving up. I bought a spare heater core which have the valve parts that are missing but I am in need of one of the clips that holds the control cable's jacket to its post...does anyone have a spare one of these clips???

I lost one of these behind my dash somewhere - I used a short length of that spooled wire to hold it on there. it's worked for about 3 years now - it isn't pretty but nobody sees it anyway!

I was able to get my core's valves out (well one anyway) and it is different than the core I had here on my bench! Apparently they made at least 2 different styles...does anyone have any spare heater core valves? One of mine was broken off (the square part there the cable lever connects to the valve was broken by a prior mechanic)...if anyone has one of these I'd like to buy it.
