Found 72 280SE 3.5 61K miles pic-Npull EURO

So today I am all done at pick-n-pull and what do they bring out but a 280SE 3.5 straight body no rust 61K on the clock. The guy I know who works there says it would start but run terribly misfiring so they put it in the yard. White interior just a bit to ratty to be good except some things the passenger carpet is in great shape except some soda stains the arm rest are perfect the under dash panels are great. All windows work the tail lights had two small cracks big drag
The bumpers and the baby bumpers looked very good. is there a re-sale market for those would I make my $150 for all back on eBay. the front headlights looked great for some reason I think it is a EURO well if any one needs parts I will get them for you for cost plus $15 an hour to pull haul ect them let me know quick because it will get thrashed quick. I will be putting the wood and a lot of the chrome on EBay soon/

Couldnt grab the whole car? What a waste of a 108 that should be on the road!

I might be interested in the front and rear bumper assemblies. I'd imagine shipping from Cali to PA to be quite costly though! 108's had the same bumpers for euro and US-specs. Market is "Whatever someone is willing to pay".

If you don't save the whole car, at least save the brain box and the transmission. Those parts are very hard to replace. -CTH

By brain box, do you mean the big aluminum box on the fender for the fuel injection?
Thanks

Sheesh i thought it was a W111 coupe. My mechanic just brokered a convertible which just recently got shipped back to Germany. The buyer paid big bucks for it. Too bad I would have been all over that too!

the 3.5 motors are rare and relatively desirable. if i had a place to store it and it could be gotten cheaply i would grab it and see if i could get it running. and if you can get a compression test and it is good there would be a market for the engine i would think.

in 70 they all looked like euros in the bumpers. the headlights onthe us cars were different and lots less elegant than the euro lights.

Miss those pick & pulls

Boy, do I miss the pick & pull junk yards on the west coast. None here in New England that I know of. Pulled a freshly rebuilt pair of Zenith carbs for my 250C years back, manifold & all in the Valley, when I lived in N. Hollywod. Brought them to the check out......$25.00. Got a slammin burito at the lunch wagon on the way out to boot!

UPdate

The car is so stripped from the parts request and Saturday we cut the front clip and the rocker plates out. Mind you there are no power saws of any kind. I have a funny relationship with them and am on the owners **** list because he heard a story that I did something totally insane in order to sneak in every thing to do some leak down tests that he sends escorts in to check on me and all but strip searches me however he will laugh when I ram a tractor at 30 MPH his IC agent would have a stroke go figure. This means hand cutting the clip and rocker panels out which is insane. Which I am not he is going to pay enough for me to be insane for 8 hours and loose the use of my arm for a week. Another gentlemen wants the left rear quarter of the car if he comes through there soon will be no part from this car made into a bear can. Any one that pays $400 per fender needs his head examined someone that replaces not the left quarter panel but the whole left ¼ of the car then ships it to Europe is ???and he can adopt me too that’s the latest.

Pick and Pulls

I agree the "Pick and Pull" yards on the left coast are great. But I have noticed a tremendous reduction of the number of vintage Benzes in them over the last few years. Unfortunatly I don't have time to hit them all in the area but very infrequently. There is a Pick and Pull in Sacramento that only stocks Imported cars. They used to have 20-30 vintage Benzes there all the time. Now it's down to a handfull.
