Thumbs down Don't use WIX oil filters on M130 engines

I noticed the aluminum ends (unlike Bosch rubber ends) before installation. It didn't quite fit as well as the Bosch, but I ran the car for a minute; no leaks.

Two days later, I travelled 1/2 mile, and as I was parking, I heard 'gurgling" noises under the car. I was suprised to see oil leaking from the canister/base interface.

Because of the aluminum ends on the WIX oil fiter canister, the O-ring couldn't seal. Problem solved by again using the Bosch oil filter.

Bosch isn't an OE filter either. Hengst, Mann or Knecht/Mahle are.

Same problem using Wix oil filter for the 1979-83 240D. The rubber ring gasket does not fit tight and the cannister leaks. Never had a problem with Fram oil filters.

He might have a valid reason for not using the Wix in this case. I don't know enough about the M130 to answer that.

I've used Wix for years in all my cars/trucks and like them - but then again, I sell them, so I may appear to be a bit biased in your mind.
