air conditioning compressor upgrade
A friend just gave me a new Sanden air conditioning compressor. I have a 1970 250c with a 4 speed and an old aftermarket ARA air conditioner. The old york style compressor draws a lot of power and heats up the engine.I am hoping to upgrade the system with the new compressor and need a little help determining if it will work and any other pieces that I need to replace. The current system uses R12 and the new compressor uses R134. How do I tell if the new compressor is the right size? What kind of dryer should I use? What size pulley should I put on the compressor? Do I need to change anything inside the car?

Compressors are gas agnostic. If it is an old Sanden it was designed for r12. Stick with R12 its cheap again and the components of the a/c system were sized for r12. 134 is a false economy. You would have to change the fittings if you went 134 too. A properly working R12 setup will work better.
